Acceptance Speech            I am sorry my uncle could not make (he is dead) it I will represent him.  My Uncle DeMorgan’s is a great and powerful yet successful man at what he does.  Here is some of my uncle’s background (history). Augustus De Morgan was born on June 27, 1806 in
India.  He was an Indian-born British mathematician. (Wikipedia.  “Augustus De Morgan.”18 October 2006.  5 December 2006 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_De_Morgan>)   De Morgan’s observation influenced everyone across the world, the algebraisation of logic taken over by George Boole, which cemented Morgan’s claim to the find of logician. (cf. Bocheński’s History of Formal Logic.  4 Dec. 2006) one achievement would be that he came up with the law known as De Morgan’s law and was the first to introduce it.  Augustus was a very honorable and great uncle to be around.  Anyway another achievement was that the De Morgan crater on the Moon is named after him which I am so very proud of.  My uncle went to
Trinity College England when he was only 16 years of age.  He immediately came under the influence of George Peacock and William Whewell. They became his life-long friends; from then on he resulted in the interest of algebra and from the interest in logic—the two subjects of his future life work.  My uncle then died on March 18, 1871 due to a nervous prostration.  This was overly upsetting.  Anyway another achievement would be that my uncle got his degree in Bachelor of Arts, in which I was exceedingly impressed and overly proud of him for what he had accomplished even though I was not born.  At the prestige’s
college of
Oxford and
Cambridge which at that point did not allow any Jews or Dissenter.  My great uncle taught at a new college that opened up in
London at just the young age of 22 my uncle was a professor of Mathematics and some of his studies are still used to this day.  Another interesting fact about my uncle was that he received his secondary education from Mr. Parsons, a professor of

Oriel
College,
Oxford, who appreciated classics much rather than mathematics.  Another interesting, but dishearten fact was that my uncle had no job opening’s available at his college.  Which sooner rather then later, he got another job which was teaching in
London.  I would now like to thank my Uncle’s mother and father even though they could not be here (dead) which was disheartening.  I would also like to thank my uncle for teaching me while he was still alive how to do math and the importance of math in life experiences.  He was such a loving and great uncle to me and I am deeply saddened by the fact he was unable to attend this great ceremony (Mathematicians Hall of Fame).  I dearly miss him……..  I would also like to thank the people that will hopefully vote him in to the Hall of fame of Mathematics.  (Even though he was chosen to the induction of the hall of fame)  I would also like to thank my relatives for showing up for the ceremony of my uncle Augustus De Morgan.  An hopefully he will be voted in!!!!   He sure deserves it.
